Experiments in Stress-Relieving Castings and Welded Structures by Vibration

Author: McGoldrick & Saunders

This 1943 article is the earliest known scientific publication on vibratory stress relief. The applications described include use of resonant frequency vibration on large fixtures for dry-dock use, castings, and rail-bed rails. Vibration equipment described was all custom-made in USN workshops in support of the WWII war effort. (Published: Journal of the American Society of Naval Engineers)
